The Senior Ministry of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church is a group of senior adults 55 + years who meet on a regular basis for fellowship, entertainment, personal enrichment and to discuss timely subjects of interest to older Americans in a Christian atmosphere.  We named ourselves the JOY Club meaning “Just Older Youth”.
The JOY Club activities include devotion at each meeting, speakers on various subjects, short trips around the area and celebration of Senior Day at the church in May.  All of their attendees enjoy the interaction and sharing of ideas.
The JOY Club community service include making fruit baskets and distributing them in various Nursing Homes and to the Rogers Memorial Baptist Church’s sick and shut in members.  Christmas Carols were also sung and educational materials were sent to Tutwiler Center.  They also donated items for women and children to the Women’s shelter (KARM), the Salvation Army and joined with local churches in collecting blankets for the homeless and the needy.
